Psychotherapy and Healing

FAQ

FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy is a shared journey between you (the client) and I (your therapist). I look at my role as a healing guide. We will travel together but it is ultimately your choices and commitment outside of our time together that will decide the success of your healing journey. I do not have answers to all your problems, but I do have the ability to listen with deep compassion and will help you better understand the best way for you to navigate your issues and cultivate resiliency. I will ask you thoughtful questions and your answers to these questions will help identify goals and will shape the direction of our work together.

There are times in life when certain issues or life events can cause emotional distress, put a strain on relationships, or make it feel like our world is crumbling. I offer you loving and informed assistance to help you navigate stressful times. Together, we can help you find new ways to cope with the challenges in your life.

  • To begin, we will meet once a week. I find it’s important to gain some momentum in the beginning by meeting weekly for the first three sessions. After these sessions, we can work together to decide what is best for your healing. For some clients, this is weekly, for some it is bimonthly and for others it could be once every 4-6 weeks. This process is different for each unique human that I work with and I try my best to practice flexibility and discernment to meet the individual needs of each client.

  • I provide counseling for adult women who reside in Colorado. My expertise is in issues of caregiving; including burnout and compassion fatigue. I can best support women experiencing life transitions; such as postpartum, aging, issues around serious illness and grief/loss.

I do not provide counseling for children or couples.

  • It’s up to you! I offer counseling sessions in person at my south Fort Collins office or via a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform (similar to Zoom or Skype).

  • As a client, you are guaranteed the protection of confidentiality within the boundaries of the client/counselor relationship. The only limitations to confidentiality occur when clients are considered either a threat to themselves or someone else, or when legal requirements demand that confidential information be disclosed.

  • You are expected to attend each scheduled session on time. A cancelled or delayed appointment delays our work and can negatively impact other clients. Since your appointments involve the reservation of time specifically for you, and out of respect for me and my other clients, a minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for rescheduling or canceling an appointment. In the spirit of collaboration, I ask you to consider your schedule in advance and to please cancel or reschedule appointments infrequently and with 48-72 hours notice and consider telehealth as an option whenever possible to avoid a late cancellation charge.

For Therapy Clients utilizing Private Pay or Medicare:

Clients must cancel or reschedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance of scheduled appointment time. If you do not cancel ahead of time, you will be charged a fee of $150.

Any wait time of 10 minutes or more of a scheduled appointment (with no communication from the client) will be considered a “late cancellation” and will incur a $150 fee.

If the cancellation is due to inclement weather, cancellations after 8 am of the day of the scheduled appointment will incur the $150 fee.

No shows, or missed appointments with no notice at all, will be charged the same $150 fee.

This fee will automatically be charged to the card I have on file.

For Therapy Clients utilizing Medicaid as their primary insurance:

Clients must cancel or reschedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance of scheduled appointment time. If you do not cancel ahead of time, it will be considered a “late cancellation.”

If the cancellation is due to inclement weather, cancellations after 8 am of the day of the scheduled appointment will be considered a “late cancellation.”

Any wait time of 10 minutes or more of a scheduled appointment (with no communication from the client) will be considered a “late cancellation.”

If you accrue more than three late cancellations in our work together, I will terminate our psychotherapy contract and offer referrals to other therapists/agencies.

  • My fee is $150/ session. Sessions are 55 minutes in duration.

My reduced fee slots are currently full. If you need a therapist at a reduced rate, I encourage you to check out Open Path Psychotherapy Collective (https://openpathcollective.org/)

  • I am considered an out of network provider for all insurances.

Upon request, a superbill can be provided to submit for reimbursement to your insurance.

Psychotherapy services are generally covered if you have behavioral health benefits. If reimbursement is important to you, please contact your insurance for specific information.

  • Please do! I try and offer healing resources that are meaningful. Just be clear that I do not follow, friend, comment, respond, or make other similar connections on social media with clients, or their family members or friends. This is to protect your confidentiality and privacy. If you choose to follow me on social media, it’s at your own risk.

Please note, this is not a way to contact me for any reason, especially an emergency.
