Psychotherapy and Healing

FAQ

FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy is a shared journey between you (the client) and your therapist. We look at our role as a healing guide. We will travel together but it is ultimately your choices and commitment outside of our time together that will decide the success of your healing journey. We do not have answers to all your problems, but do have the ability to listen with deep compassion and will help you better understand the best way for you to navigate your issues and cultivate resiliency. We will ask you thoughtful questions and your answers to these questions will help identify goals and will shape the direction of our work together.

There are times in life when certain issues or life events can cause emotional distress, put a strain on relationships, or make it feel like our world is crumbling. We offer you loving and informed assistance to help you navigate stressful times. Together, we can help you find new ways to cope with the challenges in your life.

  • We are considered an out of network provider for all insurances.

    Insurance & Payment Options

We strive to make our services as accessible and transparent as possible. Our practice includes clinicians with different billing structures, allowing you to choose an option that best fits your needs and preferences.

    In-Network & Superbill Options

Some of our clinicians offer superbills for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance provider. A superbill is a detailed receipt that you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential partial reimbursement, depending on your plan.

If you choose to work with a clinician who provides superbills:

    • You will pay for sessions at the time of service

    • We will provide documentation for you to submit to your insurance

    • Reimbursement rates and eligibility are determined by your individual insurance plan

    How Out-of-Network Benefits Work

Many insurance plans include out-of-network mental health benefits, which can help offset the cost of therapy with providers who are not in your insurance network.

Here’s how the process typically works:

    • You pay upfront: Sessions are paid directly to your therapist at the time of service

    • You submit a superbill: We provide you with a monthly or per-session superbill to send to your insurance company

    • Your insurance reimburses you: If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, your insurance may reimburse a percentage of the session fee

A few important terms to understand:

    • Deductible: The amount you must pay out of pocket before your insurance begins reimbursing

    • Coinsurance: The percentage of the fee your insurance will cover after your deductible is met (for example, 50–80%)

    • Allowed amount: The rate your insurance considers “reasonable” for a service, which may impact reimbursement

Because every plan is different, we recommend calling your insurance provider and asking:

    • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

    • What is my deductible, and has it been met?

    • What percentage of each session will be reimbursed?

    • Is there a limit to the number of sessions covered?

Please note that we do not get involved in any insurance issues with commercial insurance companies.

  • To begin, we will meet once a week. We find it’s important to gain some momentum in the beginning by meeting weekly for the first three sessions. After these sessions, we can work together to decide what is best for your healing. For some clients, this is weekly, for some it is bimonthly. It is important to know that we provide depth work and monthly sessions or less are not advised as that does not allow for deeper, transformational work.

Jen also offer EMDR intensives; which are extended sessions. This could be a 3 hour or 6 hour session that aids in accelerating the transformation process and is perfect for those with busy schedules who are looking for immediate results.

We work well with spiritually curious folx looking to empower themselves in deep and meaningful ways. • It’s up to you! We offer sessions in person at the Fort Collins office or via a secure and easy-to-use telehealth platform (similar to Zoom or Skype).

  • As a client, you are guaranteed the protection of confidentiality within the boundaries of the client/counselor relationship. The only limitations to confidentiality occur when clients are considered either a threat to themselves or someone else, or when legal requirements demand that confidential information be disclosed.

  • You are expected to attend each scheduled session on time. A cancelled or delayed appointment delays our work and can negatively impact other clients. Since your appointments involve the reservation of time specifically for you, and out of respect for us and our other clients, a minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required for rescheduling or canceling an appointment. In the spirit of collaboration, we ask you to consider your schedule in advance and to please cancel or reschedule appointments infrequently and with 48-72 hours notice and consider telehealth as an option whenever possible to avoid a late cancellation charge.

For Therapy Clients utilizing Private Pay:

Clients must cancel or reschedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance of scheduled appointment time. If you do not cancel ahead of time, you will be charged a full session fee of $150.

Any wait time of 10 minutes or more of a scheduled appointment (with no communication from the client) will be considered a “late cancellation” and will incur a $150 fee.

If the cancellation is due to inclement weather, cancellations after 8 am of the day of the scheduled appointment will incur the $150 fee.

No shows, or missed appointments with no notice at all, will be charged the same $150 fee.

This fee will automatically be charged to the card I have on file.

For Therapy Clients utilizing RMHP Medicaid as their primary insurance:

We are not legally not allowed to charge you for missed appointments. If you accrue more than three late cancellations in our work together, we will terminate our psychotherapy contract and offer referrals to other therapists/agencies.
